After the company saw our reviews and contacted us to help fix things they did make sure our appraisal fee was returned to us in full, and apologized for the poor communication. I am leaving the situation feeling better about it.

Our initial contact with this company was great. And it sounded wonderful. They said we would have the same loan contact throughout the whole process, and that they all work together in the same building so they're not pushing your file all over the country to different offices for processing. They said their closing costs were lower than others, and their rates were competitive. The man I spoke with sounded really committed to the company and knowledgeable. So we proceeded. We applied, got a rate quote, and talked about the process. We were waiting for them to email us all the documents to e-sign so we could lock it all in.

That's when it started to go wrong.

The next morning I get a call from our 'only contact person' that our rate quote was actually wrong and had to go up (I think it was 1/2 a percent) and apologizing for the mix-up.

Then it basically fell apart from there. We ended up talking to three or four different people. The last person simply stopped returning my emails.

We had found some problems with the appraisal accuracy, including the fee. We were told it would be $425. The appraisal company charged us $625. The Sebonic contact person said he didn't know anything about why they would charge us that much. The appraisal company says they clear the fee with the loan officer before they charge us. So that was fishy. We had requested a re-appraisal. It didn't seem like they were interested in helping us figure it out.

In the end it was a string of things that just made us feel like this company is not represented by consistent, accurate, or service driven employees. So we found someone else.

Monetary Loss: $200.
